The Grandfather of Boating Trade Shows – 4 to 6 October 2013
Drawing many thousands of both local and international visitors to the CTICC & V&A Waterfront over the last 13 years, the Cape Town International Boat Show has grown to become one of the biggest boating trade shows in Africa. This has led to a 5 year partnership with the National Marine Industry Association (MIASA) that will help to grow both the visitor and exhibitor base to record levels.
The show’s success can be attributed to combining the best boats on the market with top technology and original programs from top calibre exhibitors with a strong international contingent. Of course, being located in the most beautiful city in the world (in our opinion) is another important factor. International visitors to the boat show can also take in Cape Town’s beautiful scenery and various tourist attractions, if they can drag themselves away from the boats and the various exhibition stands.
It has become a truly Cape Town tradition with the largest number of boats afloat on display in one venue in the country. The exhibition is not just a must-attend event for both the avid boating enthusiast as well as the day-dreamer, but also for top manufacturers in the industry to display several of their lines and premiere their latest models.
Some of the exciting features of the boat show include:
- Seminar Centre: run by MIASA, with talks on a variety of topics including boat safety, surf launching, long-haul sailing, women on water, fishing techniques, yacht brokerage and more.
- Talks on the upcoming Cape to Rio Yacht Race – for both competitors and general public.
- Vacation Basin: featuring luxury brands and exotic destinations with travel options to suit all budgets. Plan your dream holiday here or even purchase a holiday home. You could be in line to win one!
- Fishing Village: If you love fishing, you have to visit the fishing village where anglers of all levels can get wonderful advice and learn about shore angling, bass fishing, fly fishing, deep sea fishing, as well as rods, reels, lines, knots, lure and much more!
- The North Wharf hospitality refreshment centre will offer a bar with a great view of the boat display and plenty of food.
To allow visitors to attend the boat show at the CTICC without missing out on any of the activities at the V&A Waterfront and visiting the on-the-water boat display, organizers have ensured that there is a network of water-taxis and bus shuttles transporting visitors between the 2 locations, all inclusive of the entrance cost.
At the convention centre you can shop for boats and accessories for almost every kind of water activity you can think of, as well as attend several talks, while at the V&A Waterfront you will be able to visit the display of luxury boats, enjoy all the family activities and the hospitality area.
An added highlight will be the SA Navy’s attendance. They will offer visitors a chance to board some of the defence vessels as well as experiencing the Navy’s dive tank.
