Expos with a conscience…
The original Green Expo was held in Cape Town in 2011 and due to its popularity, is back for a 3rd year with expos in both Cape Town and Johannesburg. The CTICC will once again host this popular trade show from 29 November to 1 December 2013.
Their motto “Sustain our planet” sustains the entire ethos of the event and all their products and services are eco-friendly. The expo is aimed at the average person (both business people and homeowners) who wants to learn how to make practical changes to decrease their negative impact on the planet and lower their carbon footprint.
The expo aims to demonstrate that you don’t have to spend large amounts of money to make the changes that will positively affect our planet. There are a large variety of products and services that will be on show, from foods, building supplies, activities, leisure and organizations, all encouraging consumers to make responsible choices.
Exhibits and exhibition stands include:
- Bos Ice Tea
- Bryanston Organic and Natural Market
- SANParks
- National Geographic Channel (now the official headline sponsor)
- Fairtrade Label South Africa
- Green Africa Energy
- Green Times
- Swartland Windows and Doors
There will also be a series of talks on both conventional and unusual environmental initiatives and issues, including a intriguing talk, “What the Frack is going on?” by Jonathan Deal.
The event promises to be one of the best expos of the year as the organizers, Three City Events, have already won for “Best Consumer Exhibition of the Year” EXSA awards for the Baba Indaba, a Gold award for the Most Memorable Event in 2009 and even the “Top Women” award for gender empowerment.
They certainly walk their talk as they are also actively involved in the “Event Greening Forum”, as well as the greening of events industry, and even ensure that their expos are carbon neutral. They also support local small businesses as both exhibitors and suppliers.
Even their choice of venue reflects their dedication to a sustainable future, as not only is the CTICC centrally located, they are also committed to a “green” practices.
